Tilford Black offered an 18 year old runaway food, shelter, and money. She agreed, and was then forced to engage in sexual acts for money, and hand the money over to Black. Black admitted that he "knowingly recruited, solicited, enticed, obtained or transported the victim with the intent or knowledge that force, fraud or coercion was used to subject her to engage in commercial sexual activity."

Black was arrested when the Albuquerque Police Department Vice Unit raided the motel. Black's indictment was the first under New Mexico's anti-human trafficking law, effective in 2008.
Black was arrested on April 22, 2010 at an Albuquerque area motel, plead guilty and charged with third degree human trafficking and promoting prostitution and accepting the earnings of a prostitute, and was sentenced to a three year prison term.
