Strip clubs along Broadway are owned by organized crime and corruption runs rampant. Traffickers are owners and managers who employ underaged girls, encourage prostitution in private rooms and steal money as well as soliciting sex from the girls. Girls pay a fee to work in the clubs and often times managers will coerce young women into favors to pay for these astronomical fees.

Response & intervention
While there are many honorable police in San Francisco it also seems to have it's share in corruption. Also, these clubs bring in a lot of profit and the owners have a lot of power because of their money.
While I do know of one case where an underage girl was able to go home, there are still many women on Broadway who are being exploited and used. Even those who are there "on their own" are in constant danger as men try to follow them home and bouncers often double as body guards.
I know of at least one bouncer who tries to help girls get the help they need. He especially tries to assist underage girls in getting out of this nasty scene.
I was part of a group that went to Broadway weekly to offer prayer and friendship to some of the people working on Broadway.
