Alex Babaev and Asker Memmedov recruited women to come to the US from Azerbajaijan to work as prostitutes. From March 2003 to March 2004 women were forced to work through violence and verbal threats. The victims were told they could keep half of the earning from working, but received none of it, and had their passports taken.

Babaev plead guilty to sex trafficking. Mammedov, who worked security for the prostitution business, also plead guilty to sex trafficking.
