A 13 year old boy was promised a good paying job by his aunt but was forced to work as a waiter in her bar for no pay. He ran away from his aunt to the streets and joined a gang. The gang forced him to pick pocket in crowded areas. One time when he didn't meet his quota for the day, he was sodomized by the gang leader.

He ran away to a nurse after the rape. The nurse gave him free care and referred him to UYDEL.
Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) provides counseling and trauma therapy for victims and gets them tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Those is need of health care are taken to treatment centers and are rehabilitated to good health. UYDEL also provides training in life-skills and vocational skills like hairdressing, tailoring, electronics, catering, welding, carpentry and plumbing. A team of trained local artisans mentors the youths into skills that will enable them to find employment and start their own businesses.
