A 17 year old was taken from her parents by her older sister who promised she would provide her a good education and $15 a month. Instead she was forced to do rigorous house work for no pay. She was often beaten when she messed up.

Response & intervention
She told her situation to her older brother. He got her in contact with the village counsellor. The counsellor then got her out and referred her to UYDEL.
Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) provides counseling and trauma therapy for victims and gets them tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Those is need of health care are taken to treatment centers and are rehabilitated to good health. UYDEL also provides training in life-skills and vocational skills like hairdressing, tailoring, electronics, catering, welding, carpentry and plumbing. A team of trained local artisans mentors the youths into skills that will enable them to find employment and start their own businesses.
