The trafficker was the owner of a brothel in the city of Cape Town. Investigation revealed that a 17-year-old girl had been brought to the brothel to work from her home in Klerksdorp under false pretenses. She had been told that she would be working a job in Cape Town as a babysitter but when she arrived she found that she had been brought for very different reasons.

Response & intervention
Charges as outlined in the Sexual Offences Act, relating to the keeping of a brothel, selling of sex and trafficking in persons for sexual purposes, were brought against the brothel owner. The case was handed over to the Hawks who arrested the brothel owner shortly after.
A joint operation by the City of Cape Town's Vice Squad and the Table View South African Police Service (SAPS)has lead to the arrest of the brothel owner as well as to the rescue of the 17-year-old girl who was found in the brothel.
She was taken to Table View SAPS from where she received the necessary care. No other details about her rehabilitation were provided.
