Marquin Thompson, 28, Male, a resident of Everett, WA and San Diego, CA, acted as a pimp for the victim during 2007 and 2008 in the states of Washington, Arizona, and California. His conviction was for the trafficking he perpetrated in Des Moines and Kent, WA, along the Pacific Highway South. Victim was estranged from her family. Thompson forced the victim into prostitution, controlled her with threats and violence, and continued to coerce her in further months using threats of harm and abandonment. The victim was expected to make hundreds of dollars each day, and turn over all earnings to Thompson. Thompson has a prior conviction for supervision of a prostitute in February of 2006; was arrested for violation of probation while in the company of a suspected prostitute in August of 2009; was a suspect, along with two other individuals, in a prostitution recruitment case in May of 2009.

The Everett Police Department and the FBI were involved in the case. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ye-Ting Woo. Thompson pleaded guilty to Human Trafficking in January of 2010, and was sentenced to 77 months in prison and three years of supervised release. It is revealed in the primary source that Thompson forced the victim to work as a prostitute additionally in Arizona and California. No case information has been located for trials in Arizona or California for this crime as of this posting.
It is unclear from the case documentation how the intervention occurred. Thompson was arrested, and the victim did get emancipated.
