The article said that Everett police detectives began investigating Todd in March 2007 after a woman reported seeing her daughter's picture on Craigslist advertising that she was selling sex. The FBI, Seattle police and the IRS joined the investigation. No mention was made of any services provided to the women he had foced into prostitution. An interesting comment from the writer of the article was that although the judge allowed for restitution of $70,000 to the 3 women, he "questioned why the statute would allow for people to be repaid for criminal activity". In another article dated in October, it was reported that one of the women who helped the police bust Todd was sented to a week behind bars and three months of home detention. She initially was indicted for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking and had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in money laundering. The conviction could have sent her to prison for nearly 3 years. Her cooperation with authorities and mistreatment by Todd included repeated physical assaults needed to be recognized, according to the federal jusge who sentenced her.
