Every Child Ministries' workers were visiting homes of a nearby area, looking for children in desperate conditions so as to seek sponsors for them to enable them to go to school and to give them a better quality life. While doing so, they heard about the terrible condition of this boy who was being treated as a slave in a nearby village. The workers visited the family and verified the story. Through a cooperative effort with local law enforcement, they were able to find a home for the boy with another relative.

Response & intervention
They accompanied Every Child Ministries workers on visits to the home and their intervention was decisive in getting the boy away from the step-grandmother and into a safe situation.
The boy received a sponsorship which is enabling him to go to school. He regularly attends weekly club meetings where he gets extra nutritional support and teaching on health, hygiene, manners, and educational tutoring. Although the boy's relationship with the relative where he is now living remains tenuous, he is much better off and Every Child Ministries workers are watching the situation closely.
