An Oakdale woman has been charged with soliciting or inducing an individual to practice prostitution and engaging in the sex trafficking of an individual. The trafficker met the victim while substitute teaching at a program for young adults with disabilities and offered the victim the opportunity to earn extra money by giving messages at the traffickers’ home. She made arrangements to pick up the victim in the school’s parking lot and on April 22 drove the victim to her apartment. Once there the victim was told she could make money by giving massages and if she wanted to earn extra money she could provide sexual services. The trafficker then asked the victim to pose for photos which the trafficker later posted on a website along with the victim’s website. The trafficker would take the call and make the appointments. When a customer came to the apartment the trafficker took him the bedroom to give him a massage. The victim felt uncomfortable but could not leave as she didn’t have a ride from the apartment. She didn’t engage in any messages or sexual activity with the customer, however, she continued to receive phone calls from men wanting to receive messages and/or sexual services after she left the apartment. When interviewed by the police, the trafficker denied taking any photos of the victim, however, she later confessed to taking photos of the victim in lingerie and posting on the website. The police were able to retrieve seven images from the phone which she used to take the photos with. For the charges set against her the trafficker could face a maximum of 15 years in prison and $40,000 in fines for each count.
