"Police said today the 18-year-old girl arrived in Hamilton May 28, 2009 and had already been reported missing from a Burlington residence to Halton police. They say she met McCarthy downtown while walking in the core area and he “immediately started to engage her in conversation which turned to the discussion of prostitution and how she could make money for sex,” said Sergeant Terri-Lynn Collings. The conversation continued and, eventually, the girl was allegedly instructed by McCarthy to engage in prostitution and told the money she received was to be turned over to him. She “was escorted into a downtown business where she engaged in a sex act for money,” Collings said. Hamilton police located the girl with McCarthy a short time after she left the premises. "On May 29th, the victim returned to Hamilton and told police what had occurred. Hamilton police issued a warrant for McCarthy’s arrest May 29. Police will not name the downtown core business other than to say it affords privacy and was not involved in the transaction that took place there. The business is co-operating with police Collings said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the fugitive apprehension unit at 905-961-6276 or. if they prefer to remain anonymous, 1-800-222-8477."
