The traffickers are hospital personnel from Mexico City's Hospital Central de Oriente who have been accused of selling a newborn baby that they delivered and helped illegally register babies as couples’ children. Drs. Victor Manuel Mancera Gonzalez, Jorge Adalberto Guerrero Bustos, and Alfredo Ortiz Rosas; Nurse Maria Guadalupe Castro Morales and Receptionsist Rodriguez Mondragon are the traffickers involved. Drs. Mancera Gonzalez, Ortiz Rosas, and Guerrero Bustos delivered Diana Fernanda Castillo’s baby. Officials stated that Castillo “ never saw her daughter but heard her cry. The mother repeatedly asked Ortiz Rosas to let her see her daughter, but he told her it would be later, once she recovered from the anesthesia and Caesarean section surgery she had undergone. Then Mancera Gonzalez told Castillo that her baby had been taken to the "Moctezuma" Infants Hospital. The next day, Ortiz told her, ‘Your daughter died. There was nothing that could be done for her. She was born with insufficient respiratory ability. I tried to save her, but she died.’ He also told her the body had been cremated.” The doctors sold Castillo’s baby to a woman named Cinthia Nayeli Perez Ortiz for 15,000 pesos ($1,120) in November 2008. Procuraduria General de Justicia del Distrito Federal and Mexico City's Police are dealing with these men and women who have been prosecuted and charged with trafficking in minors, using false documents and organized crime. The case was investigated by the Procuraduria General de Justicia del Distrito Federal in Mexico because Diana Fernanda Castillo received an email from a man, the clinic owner's son, that her baby was still alive. The investigation led investigators to discovering who the baby was given to and that the doctors were doing more than just selling babies - they were also illegally registering babies as the son or daughter of people that did not have legal custody of them. Authorities have placed the back in her mother's care and she is now legally signed over to her biological mother. Mother had contacted authorities once she received an email from the son of the clinic owner (the hospital she delivered her baby) who let her know that her daughter was still alive. He told her Dr. Ortiz Rosas gave her daughter to a family and received money from that.
