Abdel Nasser Youssef Ibrahim and his ex-wife, Amal Ahmed Ewis-abd El Motelib were charged with forcing a 10-year-old girl to work as a domestic servant in their house in Irvine. The victim first began to work for the couple in 1999, while they still lived in Egypt. Following their move to the US in 2000, the couple arranged with her parents for the girl to be brought as well to work as a nanny and housekeeper. She was forced to work 16 hours a day as a domestic servant, helping the couple`s children get ready for school, preparing and serving food, cleaning, and doing laundry and yard work. Her passport was taken, and she was not paid for the 20 months she worked for the family. The victim was physically and verbally abused, and told she would be arrested if the police caught her outside the family's home.

Both were sentenced by the United States District Court. Ibrahim was sentenced to 36 months in prison, while El Motelib received 22 months. They were also ordered to pay the victim more than $76,000 (the amount she should have been paid during the two years she worked without pay). Following their time in prison, both foreign nationals will face deportation from the United States.
The case was investigated by the Orange Country Human Trafficking Task Force, with collaboration for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Irvine Police Department. The case was tried on October 24, 2004, and the victim (now 17 years old) testified. Both Ibrahim and Motelib pleaded guilty.
The victim has been granted a visa to allow her to stay in the United States, and at the time of the hearing was a 17-year old high school student.
