Gaston was arraigned today before Queens County Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Buchter on an indictment charging him with sex trafficking, second- and third-degree promoting prostitution and second-degree assault. He is presently awaiting trial on another indictment charging him with sex trafficking, second- and third-degree promoting prostitution, third- degree rape, and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, the defendant faces up to 25 years in prison on each indictment. He was ordered held without bail. The District Attorney further stated that a second man, Archie Campbell, 23, of 128-03 North Conduit, in Queens, has been charged in the same indictment with third-degree promoting prostitution for allegedly acting as a pimp for the same victim during a three month period between September and December 2007. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. He was also arraigned before Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Buchter and ordered held without bail.

Yes: Investigation resulting in indictments. District Attorney Brown said that, according to the charges, defendant Gaston forced the victim into a vehicle by threatening to beat her up if she did not get inside and forced her into prostitution between June 1, 2007 and September 3, 2007, and again between January 1, 2008 and March 31, 2008. The defendant allegedly posted sexually explicit photographs of the victim on the Internet site Craigslist to attract customers and forced the victim to perform various sexual acts for money and to turn the money over to him. It should be noted that an indictment is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
