A 13 year old girl was purchased from her grandmother and forced to work as a house helper cooking, cleaning, and watching the baby for the family. She was beaten often and denied food.

Response & intervention
The girl told her story to a village counsellor and he got her connected with UYDEL.
Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) provides counseling and trauma therapy for victims and gets them tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Those is need of health care are taken to treatment centers and are rehabilitated to good health. UYDEL also provides training in life-skills and vocational skills like hairdressing, tailoring, electronics, catering, welding, carpentry and plumbing. A team of trained local artisans mentors the youths into skills that will enable them to find employment and start their own businesses.
