44 year old female Lirong Liu was charged with the trafficking of two female victims from China to the Kingdom of Tonga under the guise of waitressing jobs. The two victims paid Liu 40,000 Yen for Visas. Upon arrival into Tonga Liu threatened the two women with death and took their passports. The victims were enslaved for two months.

Response & intervention
The two victims did not attempt to contact law enforcement during their enslavement due to the threats of their captor and the language barrier.
Intervention resulted in three Human Trafficking charges against Lirong Liu on May 19, 2010.
The two victims are currently living seperatly in Tongatapu.
