What happened
The alleged perpetrator kidnapped an underage minor from Guatemala where she was held captive for 20+ years. At some point during her captivity the victim was brought to the United States and then moved to Kentucky. The perpetrator fathered two children with the victim during her time in captivity.
Response and intervention
The local Lexington police department have decided not to press charges or pursue a case against the alleged trafficker. The alleged trafficker has fled and cannot be located. Information on how this case was discovered is not available to the public. The victim is receiving aftercare services. The names of the those agencies cannot be released for the victims protection.
