On April 16, 2001 Alamin was sentenced to 11 years in prison and three years probation for holding the victim against her will and five years of forced labor. Akhter was sentenced in May of the same year to one year in prison and three years supervised release. The couple was also ordered to pay $126,000 in restitution to the victim.
