After several episodes of abuse, molestation and rape by relatives, this child was sent out to “get money” by her mother during frequent periods when there was no food or utilities in the house. “Boyfriend” kidnapped this child and transported her from Alameda County to Sacramento County where she engaged in prostitution. Subsequently commercially exploited by various unknown adult males.

Response & intervention
This child was arrested for prostitution in December of 2006, even though the TVPA states that minors cannot legally consent to prostitution and the California statute defines prostitution as “consenting to sex in exchange for money.”
This child first came to the attention of law enforcement in December of 2006 / January of 2007 and referred to MISSSEY by her probation officer. This child’s involvement with MISSSEY was spotty at best.
MISSSEY walked this child through several of the steps toward emancipation and remains open to ongoing relationship, however this case illustrates the difficulty of emancipating a child who remains in a dysfunctional family situation.
MISSSEY’s SACEY / SPA program intervened on this child’s behalf and remains willing to work with her.
