Gary Glazner ran topless bars in Melbourne before branching out into brothels. He recruited 20- 40 women in Thailand and brought them to Sydney. He forced them to perform up to 500 "jobs" before they had "paid him back," and then kept them under contract for a further 12 months. He kept them locked in the brothel and kept their passports so they did not have a chance of escaping.

Response & intervention
Since there were no laws against human trafficking in Australia at the time of investigation, Glazner was let off by Judge William White with a sentence of 18 months, fully suspended and a $33,000 fine.
Another Sydney-based trafficker who saw Glazner as "competition" tipped off the police.
