A 14 year old girl was given to a family friend by her grandmother. The friend promised to provide for her, but forced her to work for $2 a month. That money was sent to her grandmother. She was often beaten and was once burned with boiling water.

Response & intervention
Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) provides counseling and trauma therapy for victims and gets them tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Those is need of health care are taken to treatment centers and are rehabilitated to good health. UYDEL also provides training in life-skills and vocational skills like hairdressing, tailoring, electronics, catering, welding, carpentry and plumbing. A team of trained local artisans mentors the youths into skills that will enable them to find employment and start their own businesses.
