Tyrel Henwood is charged with assault, unlawful confinement and uttering threats, procuring a minor, living off the avails of prostitution of a person under the age of 18, compelling a teenager to engage in prostitution and threatening violence, intimidating and coercion. His trial date has been set for April 14-24, 2009 in the Victoria Provincial Court. He has elected to be trial by judge alone. Police recommended that Henwood be charged with trafficking in persons, but as of March 2009, Crown prosecutors had not laid this more serious charge.

On November 13, 2008, the Victoria Police Service bicycle patrol unit approached an under-aged girl on the street on suspicion she was involved in prostitution. She gave two false names to the police, before breaking down and asking them for help.
