Carlos Curtis and an accomplice convinced a 12-year old runaway to become a prostitute by offering her food, clothing, and shelter. Curtis also had another victim, a 17-year old runaway from Maryland. Curtis traveled with the two from Brooklyn, NY to Washington DC, where he sold the children from sex. Curtis also had another victim, a 26-year old woman from Queens, NY.

Carlos Curtis was found guilty on July 2, 2004 of sex trafficking of children, transportation of minors for prostitution transportation of a person for prostitution, and possession of child pornography.
