After her mother and brother died, the victim's father gave her away at age 8 to work as a domestic servant. She did housework for 18 hours a day, but she was never paid. She slept on the verandah and ate leftovers. Sometimes, she was denied food altogether. She was beaten frequently, particularly when she tried to rest. When his wife left the house, the male guardian raped her. She was not allowed to leave, but even if she was, she wouldn’t know where to go. She didn’t know if her father was still alive.

Police intercepted the girl with 9 others and a woman trying to cross a border at Forecariah, Guinea in a van in the middle of the night. This region is one of the hardest hit in regard to child trafficking. The police also helped by contacting the victim's parents.

Thirteen children aged 13-19 were discovered,and 18 people connected with the rackert were arrested. Both the girls trafficked and the trafficking agents were Nigerians. The girls were lured by promises of recruiters of over $1700 cash. They were then taken to Guinea,where they were being provided with false passports and sent to Mali, and from there sold to brothels in Morocco, Algeria, Spain and Italy. The girls would then be required to pay the brothel owner $400 for their freedom.
