Mohamed Ahmed Amalle, from Twin Cities, MN was arrested on or about May 9, 2011 in connection with an alleged sex ring that prostituted underage girls. Mohamed Ahmed Amalle is the 30th defendant in a massive child-prostitution case. Authorities allege the Somali Mafia and Somali Outlaws gangs operated the ring out of the Twin Cities, MN, Nashville, TN, and Columbus, Ohio. A grand jury indictment alleges that in November 2006, when Mohamed Amalle was 18, he became part of an original group of men that began selling a girl younger than 13 for sex. The vicitm was identified in court documents as Jane Doe Two. The group allegedly called up customers and then dropped her off at apartment complexes in Minneapolis and St. Paul. About two-thirds of the 29 people charged so far are from Minnesota. The alleged recruitment of young girls by Minneapolis-based Somali gangs to work as prostitutes took place in Minnesota and many of the alleged sex acts were carried out at Minnesota homes and businesses, from a Blaine mall to a Brooklyn Center hotel. The victims, who authorities say were as young as 12, were allegedly transported to work in the sex trade in other states, including Tennessee and Ohio.

St. Paul Police and the Hennepin County sheriff's department arrested Amalle without incident. Amalle was to appear in federal court on or about May 10, 2011.
A November 2010 indictment claims the ring involved the Minneapolis-based gangs — the Somali Outlaws, the Somali Mafia and the Lady Outlaws — and that all three gangs are connected. The men and women charged were either gang members or associates of the gangs, the indictment said. They range in age from 19 to 38. The indictment says the sex trafficking ring operated for 10 years, with the defendants recruiting young girls to engage in sex acts. One girl was just 13 when, in 2005, she was taken from the Minneapolis area to an apartment in Nashville to engage in prostitution, it said. The girl was also taken to Columbus, Ohio, and other locations for prostitution. In another case, a girl was under age 13 when she was first forced to engage in sex acts in November 2006. Two defendants had sex with her the next month at an apartment in St. Paul, and then other males arrived and were charged money to do the same, the indictment said. Lead prosecutor Van Vincent, an assistant U.S. attorney in Nashville, said the victims were "safe". Aftercare was reported for one of the victims.
