Sub contractors of the large multinational corporation GAP were discovered forcing children as young as 10 years old to work 16 hour days, making garments for the GAP Christmas sale. Children were rounded up in villages when the traffickers promised parents payment that would allow them to quit work in the fields if they would sell their sons to go to the city to work, where they would "receive educations and learn to become men." Children that cried or showed any sign of slowing down in their work were beaten with rubber pipes and had oily rags shoved in their mouths.
