The trafficker recruited the women from 2008 to 2010 and sent them to New Zealand and Italy because these countries do not prohibit prostitution. He reportedly collected illegal profits of about 130 million won (approximately 130,000 USD) from them. The trafficker forced the women to undergo breast augmentation surgery. The victims were forced to change their name because they would be denied entry into the countries with a record of prostitution.

According to police, from February 2007 through November 2009 Ms. Kim and the others brought 70 North Korean women trafficked from Qingdao, China into the business and accommodations they operated, earning over 30 million won in illegal profits from forcing them into prostitution. Also, they are accused of placing a 400,000 won bounty on Ms. Jo, a North Korean refugee in her mid-30s who escaped the business. Police say that they took 20% of the 100,000 won the victimized women earned per encounter in the bars they were forced to perform prostitution in, and were even beaten if they did not earn enough. Investigators found that they took advantage of the fact that North Korean refugee women in China have no contacts in South Korea and no regular residence, and paid 3.6 million won to Chinese brokers to bring them to Korea. Police believe that there are more perpetrators involved in the crimes including operators of brothels in China.

The traffickers confined the 2 runaway girls to a motel room, and among other victims, forced them to prostitute themselves, police said. The group of teenagers confined two 15-year-old runaway girls at a motel in northern Seoul, forced them to strip and hit each other on Feb. 21. They forced another victim they had confined, a 13-year-old girl, to film the scene of violence with a cell phone, telling the girls that they would spread the video clip on the Internet if they ran away. The boys, armed with a knife, kidnapped the two girls by car Monday and threatened to kill them if they refused to prostitute themselves. They also attempted to rape the girls. The girls managed to escape, but the teenage gang uploaded the footage on their blogs. With the video clip enraging Internet users, they removed it, but police tracked them down. They are also suspected of having pimped three girls over 60 times and made five million won between last October and November.

The trafficker ran a brothel where he held prostituted women for 30 days each. Each act the woman was forced to perform cost the john 60,000 KRW, all paid to the trafficker. The trafficker made 3,402,000 KRW off of each woman/month. It is unclear by the article just how many women were enslaved.

The 16 yr old victim was forced into prostitution by 3 older classmates. For over 20 days starting on July 2nd she earned millions of won from over 50 acts of prostitution, and all of the money was stolen from her. After meeting a man through internet chatting and choosing a meeting place Park would be taken to the spot to have sex with him, for which she was paid from 100,000 to 200,000 won. They would accompany her to and from the motel. Park told investigators that she wanted to escape from prostitution was unable to leave because of her terror over the beatings she sometimes received from Kang and the others. The 3 traffickers were arrested for forced prostitution of a minor. Police have said they will continue their investigation to find all of the men who paid to have sex, and will do so by using their phone numbers.

3 adults forced a 14-yr old runaway into prostitution, forcing her to have sex with over 800 males. The child was locked in a hotel room for 6 months and forced to perform sexual acts on more than 5 males a day. The traffickers charged 100,000 to 200,000 KRW to each male, making over 120 milion KRW from the child The child did not get any of the money. The three people beat her up and burned the back of her hand with cigarettes whenever she begged them to let her go home, according to the police. The police were able to arrest the perpetrators when they tried to kidnap the victim after she escaped her captors.

One woman ran away, and the club owners contacted her mother, asking her to "pay for damages" and threatening to prosecute the girl for breach of contract. The mother contacted the Filipino Migrants Catholic Church in Seoul, which helped her complain to the South Korean police. That night, the police raided the clubs.
