Jesus Perez-Laguna was sentenced in Federal Court to 14 years and forced to pay the victim $52,000. Upon serving his sentence Perez-Laguna will be deported back to Mexico and not granted reentry into the United States. Ciro Bustos-Rosales was sentenced to 70 months in prison, ordered to pay restitution, and ordered to comply with similar terms and conditions of release as those included in Perez-Laguna’s sentence.

The young girl was emancipated, along with an 18 and 31 year old women. The two men were arrested in March of 2007 and sentenced in September. One suspect involved is still at large.
Its unclear what services the girl received because of her age the majority of information pertaining to her has been withheld. She is eligible for the t-visa if she wishes to remain in the United States. The case was investigated by Special Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and investigators with the Columbia Police Department.
