Of sorts.The child workers of Peru face an incredible number of dangers as they make their ways from the rural villages to the city. These children are often bought or lured from their families with promises of good jobs and education in the city. Most of these children will never see their families again and in some cases, may be too young to even remember where they came from in the first place. In this case, Janet was 7 years old when a family from Cosina Olympia recruited her to work as an unpaid domestic servant. Her family was eager to give her up in the first place as the family was prone to domestic violence issues. She was later employed in a factory stamping chocolates for no compensation and was sexually abused by the son of the owner of the factory. The most common scenario is that wealthy families from the city of Cusco or Lima will travel to remote villages to recruit children as domestic servants. These children will end up working 15-20 hours per day, often with no pay whatsoever. The promise of education is only sometimes fulfilled. The families are not above beating the children if they step out of line or become rebellious and female children are often subject to sexual abuse. Within Peruvian society, these are the invisible children.

Maria, 13, is currently being exploited by her sister. She was brought to Cusco as an unpaid domestic worker at age 7, but eventually managed to leave her employer. She now lives with her sister working in a local tienda 10-12 hours per day before attending school for four hours at night. Her sister takes all of her income. The most common scenario is that wealthy families from the city of Cusco or Lima will travel to remote villages to recruit children as domestic servants. she was trafficked by an older man who at first tried to "help" her and her two girlfriends find an apartment. He would take them out to expensive restaurants, bought them and their friends drinks and drugs. The girls thought of him as a a father figure. On one occasion after drinking and being slipped drugs all of the girls were very tired so he took them to a hotel where they could fall asleep. One of the girls remembered waking up and seeing the man raping her friend but was too tired and drugged to get up and do anything about it. When all three of the girls woke up the next morning they found their clothes on the floor with blood on them and 100 soles on the bed. After this, all three of the girls self esteem was gone. They spent the 100 soles on drugs and alcohol. The man bought the girls cell phones and shelter and would continually lure them in with affection and then continually beat them. He paid for a little room for the three of them to share that smelled of yearn and was located in a really bad area. He would allow the girls to have boyfriends from now and then , although most of these "boyfriends" were his friends and would also rape the three girls.

Norca, now 14, was trafficked to Cusco to work as a domestic servant several years ago. Luckily for her, her mother came to Cusco and Norca now lives with her instead of the family that purchased her in the first place. She currently works in a restaurant where she makes 100 Soles per month, or about $33. She works 10-12 hours per day. The most common scenario is that wealthy families from the city of Cusco or Lima will travel to remote villages to recruit children as domestic servants. The institution denied her aid when she was in serious condition after being raped and hit by a car. She was thrown back into the institution after being found at Generacion by her judge. She was abused with pills and injections in the institution.

The victim's case was unknown to the government, and unfortunately the only way that the victim was able to escape her situation was through death. After years of having been sexually explotiated, even while pregnant, the victim passed away without any record of her trafficker's actions or justice for what she endured.
